We have two core programmes around which your expedition will be built

  • The Best of Thailand itinerary starts in Bangkok and includes a road trip through the historical cities of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai on the way to Chiang Mai. Accommodation throughout is in hotel rooms and a one way flight from Chiang Mai to Bangkok is included.
  • The Thailand Adventure tours include energetic activities such as white water rafting and jungle trekking and some of the accommodation is a little more basic, such as bamboo bungalows or hill tribe villages. A return flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is included.

Both types of tour can include a five day Diving extension on the idyllic island of Koh Tao, where most students will learn to dive. Those who already dive may complete a more advanced course and non-divers will have their own exciting programme to follow.

Day 1

Arrival

You will be met at Bangkok airport by your English-speaking guide and driver who will transfer you to your hotel and ensure that you are settled in. Your first meal will be dinner at your hotel.

Day 2

Glittery Temples, a Fairytale Palace & Fun on the Water

Your first day in Bangkok will be memorable as we tour the extravagant, shiny temples of the Emerald & Reclining Buddhas and the Royal Palace, before taking an exhilarating tour of Bangkok’s klongs (canals) by boat. Dinner is served on a Chao Phraya River cruise!

Day 5

Ancient Ayutthaya

Today you will explore the magnificent antiquities of Ayutthaya. Visit the many pavilions and landscaped gardens of Bang Pa-In Summer Palace. Take a long-tail boat up the Chao Phraya river to Ayutthaya island. Catch an elephant taxi to the temple ruins of Ayutthaya.

Day 6

Sukhothai Historical Park

Today you will explore the earliest capital of Siam, Sukhothai, on foot and by bicycle. With its crumbling chedis, statues of elephants and Buddhas and stunning ponds and lakes, Sukhothai is a photographer’s paradise, just waiting to be discovered.

Day 7

Chiang Mai 6 Day Tour (CM06)

Mountain Temple & Thai Massage

After an early breakfast, we head for the capital of the north, Chiang Mai, where we will visit the splendid, shiny temple on the mountain, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, before returning to the city for an hour-long Thai massage before dinner.

Day 10

Chiang Mai 3 Day Tour (CM03)

Elephant Trek, Ox Cart, Bamboo Rafting

We visit a conservation camp in lush jungle, where you can take a 45 minute trek on elephant back. You’ll also experience a rickety ride on ox cart and a leisurely drift downstream on a bamboo raft. Tonight we celebrate with a traditional Khantoke dinner and Thai dance.

Day 11

Return to Bangkok

It’s time to say ‘good bye’! We will be sorry to see you go, but we are sure that you will take many wonderful memories away with you. We will arrange your flights and transfers so that you have plenty of time to catch your onward flight from Bangkok.

Day 5

Footpath into the jungle

Waterfalls, Hill Tribes & Jungle

After an early morning flight to Chiang Mai, you will be whisked off to Doi Inthanon, the highest peak in Thailand for some wonderful walking through thick rainforest, hill tribe villages, rice paddies and jungle rivers. Tonight you'll stay in bamboo bungalows as guests of a Karen hill tribe.

Day 6

White water rafting

White Water Rafting & Elephant Bathing

Today you will hurtle down 10km of breathtaking white water rapids on your inflatable rafts. The water is fast-flowing and the jungle scenery is magical. After your guide has helped you navigate through the rapids, you will have plenty of time to interact with elephants and bathe them in the river.

Day 7

Flight of the Gibbon

Zip Wires through the Jungle

In today’s jungle treetop adventure, you’ll fly along 7km of zip wires high in the trees including Asia’s longest single flight. Your canopy journey takes you to 33 stations, where you’ll meet the gibbons that inhabit this rainforest. Tonight we celebrate with a traditional Khantoke dinner and Thai dance.

Day 11

Return to Bangkok

It’s time to say ‘good bye’! We will be sorry to see you go, but we are sure that you will take many wonderful memories away with you. We will arrange your flights and transfers so that you have plenty of time to catch your onward flight from Bangkok.

Two Expeditions at the Same Time!

Because all our themed tours follow the same basic route, it is entirely possible to run two tours side-by-side.

For example, a school may put together a joint Art and Geography trip, with many shared activities and, on other days, the group would be split in two for the specialist pursuits. Every night the group would reunite for dinner and to discuss the day’s adventures.

5 Day Diving Extension on Koh Tao

  • On Day 11 of your expedition, you will leave Chiang Mai on an early morning flight for Koh Samui, via Bangkok.
  • A two hour catamaran ride brings you to the idyllic island of Koh Tao, where you will spend the next five days.
  • Most of the group will learn to dive and everything’s included; dive manual, lessons, equipment hire, wet suit, the lot!
  • Whilst the majority will probably take the PADI Open Water divers course, there are plenty of more advanced courses for those who already dive.
  • Our extended stay on the island will allow those who qualify as per the timetable to have two leisure dives in the coral reefs that surround the island. Those who experience any difficulties will have private tuition and catch-up time.
  • A full programme will be put together for those unable to dive which may include snorkeling excursions, a treasure hunt, beach walks and picnic, trapeze school, Thai kick boxing training camp and relaxation!
  • Breakfasts and lunches are taken at a nearby restaurant and the group will go out to eat at night.
  • On the final night we will gather to watch the expedition dive video and congratulate those who have become qualified divers, before our beach party.
  • On Day 16, the group will take the return journey back to Bangkok to catch their onward flight.
