Ayutthaya Temples with River Cruise
(Private Day Tour)
Itinerary
DTB09
- This exciting tour will take you north of Bangkok, past fields of rice and coconut palms, to the ancient capital city of Ayutthaya with its splendid palaces and temple ruins
- Your guide and driver will collect you from your central Bangkok hotel, or from Saphon Taksin BTS, in your own air-conditioned, private vehicle
- Before you arrive at Ayutthaya Island itself, we will take you to the magnificent Wat Chaiwatthanaram, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. These ruins date back to 1630 and are a photographer’s dream!
- Next we visit one of the most beautiful temples in Ayutthaya, Wat Mahathat, where you will find one of Thailand’s most iconic sights, the Stone Head of a Buddha held firmly in the roots of a Bodhi tree
- When in Ayutthaya, you may choose to get an elephant taxi. This is not included in the cost, but your guide should help you get a good price
- You will then be shown Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the grandest and most important temple in the ancient capital
- After a wonderful morning in the Historical Park, we will take you for lunch at an authentic Thai restaurant. Lunch is included in the price and we would highly recommend the grilled Giant River Prawns, that are more like lobsters and are absolutely delicious!
- After lunch, it’s time to sit back and relax as we take a 45-minute Longtail Boat trip down the Chao Phraya River to Bang Pa-In
- Your guide will show you around the many pavilions and ornamental gardens of the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, with its eclectic mix of Thai, Chinese and European styles
- After your visit to Bang Pa-In and the temples of Ayutthaya, your guide and driver will be ready to take you back to your hotel, or to the airport, where your tour will end
