- This wonderful day’s adventure will take you three hours out of Bangkok to a sanctuary for old, disabled, abused and rescued elephants. Here you will spend a day working for the elephants, which we are sure will be one of the most rewarding and memorable experiences of your trip to Thailand
- Your guide and driver will collect you from your central Bangkok hotel, or from Saphon Taksin BTS, in your own air-conditioned, private vehicle
- Your journey will take you through the provinces of Nakhon Pathom and Kanchanaburi and your guide will inform you about the Thai way of life in these districts which stretch from western Bangkok to Burma, as you drive past fields of rice, coconuts and pineapples
- When you arrive at the Elephant Sanctuary in Wang Dong, you will be introduced to your elephants and will start the day by feeding them fruit and sticky rice
- Next you will head down to the river to watch the animals bathe and then you can help Prepare Food for the elephants by cleaning the fruit and veg and preparing giant balls of sticky rice
- By now you will be hungry and it will be time to sit down with the other volunteers for a delicious Thai Lunch
After lunch, it is time to gather food for the elephants such as Banana, Sugar Cane and Grass. You may also help to prepare their Fruit Baskets - After all the preparation, you are sure to enjoy Feeding sticky rice balls to the older elephants
- It’s then time to get in the river, where you will help to Bathe the Elephants and scrub them clean
- Finally, before you leave, you will have the opportunity to Feed the Elephants the fresh fruit and vegetables that you have prepared
- At 4pm your time at the elephant sanctuary will, sadly, come to an end. Your guide and driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel, or to the airport, where your tour will finish
