Khao Phing Kan is a small island in the north of Phang Nga Bay. It is easily reached from Phuket, Krabi or Ao Nang and is best visited as part of a day tour of Phang Nga Bay.

The island is formed from limestone that climbs steeply out of the sea and is clothed in a thick layer of rainforest. It has two sandy beaches with stunning green waters and all visitors land on one of these, to register at the government office.

About 50m off shore is a small islet that sticks out of the water like a needle. This is Kho Tapu that was made famous when it featured in the 1974 James Bond movie, The Man With The Golden Gun. It was chosen as the location of the hideaway for Bond’s enemy Francisco Scaramanga.

The islands are now a popular tourist destination and Khao Phing Kan is known to tourists and locals alike as James Bond Island.
